Joan Torres-Saez is the Chief Data Officer of CloudBIRST, Inc. where she manages huge datasets that provide meaningful insights on consumer behavior . She spearheaded the collection and topology of over 2,000 data points on every single city, town, county and zip code in the United States. She also serves as the Founder of Data Rescue Boulder, a 3 day gig that is beginning its 3rd year of existence rescuing serious scientific data, including original NASA moon mission era data for the Goddard Space Physics Data center.

Ms. Torres-Saez has also recently served or provided thought leadership on the National Leadership Grants for Libraries program, Institute of Museum and Library Services, Johns Hopkins Library systems data rescue initiatives, 500 Women Scientists, the Data Conservancy, Environmental Data Group Initiative, and is a contributing writer to Alt Gov News (published in 6 languages), and has written a series of math primers for children (available on Amazon).

Ms. Torres-Saez is a highly regarded executive with extensive practical and technical experience in the IT world. From entrepreneurial endeavors to executive posts at Hewlett Packard, Oracle, AT&T and IBM, Joan has managed teams of engineers, turned around unprofitable segments, overseen the provisioning of satellites (4K television), conversion of moon mission data (NASA), the first Data Over Cable project in the world (Time Warner Roadrunner) the first ever text over cell project (IBM/ AT&T / Microsoft), and the first online railroad ticketing system are a few examples of her ability to lead technologists, embrace ground breaking technologies and solutions, integrate them into a business model, and show results on the balance sheet.

Ms. Saez also founded and leads the largest volunteer data rescue effort (Data Rescue Boulder) in the United States, which has saved and published over 14 Billion data points, thousands of datasets, and works directly with NASA, Johns Hopkins University, NCAR, NOAA, the EPA and University of Colorado, Boulder creating ground breaking technical tools and methodologies for saving and publishing Big Data.

Her passion for the outdoors and protecting the environment resulted in being the youngest person appointed to a gubernatorial board in the State of Colorado (Better Air Campaign), collaborating with government agencies on reducing waste, led the development of CNG-vehicle software for the local energy company, and is passionate about reducing chemical exposure through advocating for organic foods and body products.
